We'd like to have a Join Mozilla promo that we can use for the mozilla.org home page. We are currently reusing the promo from the About Mozilla page, but that doesn't fit well in the space (that promo is twice the height of a standard promo and is missing the word bubble at the top from other home page promos).

The style can be the same, but we'd need to cut back on the text. Some possibilities for shorter text:

'Help us build a better web. Join Mozilla.'

'Your $5 helps us build a better web. Join Mozilla.'

Timing on this is flexible. Ideally we would switch out the promo we're using now but we can always fall back to a different existing home page promo in the short-term if needed.
Thanks David -- Talked to Chelsea about this already. Lee is going to jump on this when he can.
It would be helpful to have the source files of the artwork used on the new Join Mozilla site. If the timeline on this is later than the t-shirt inserts project, then I should already have the artwork by then.
Lee, I just sent you a link to Sean's PSD for the Join pages.

Hey all,
Here's a pass at rescaling the Join Mozilla promos (consistent to our 3 current sizes) for the homepage. Let me know what you think, if we want to revisit the copy, etc, and I'll link you to the source files. Thanks! Lee
Hey Lee,

They look great. I would like to revisit the copy (today is a copy binge for me) and try two different versions of copy for A/B testing. Is that okay?

David, will they work for your purposes?
Lee, looks good to me. Let's see what Ryan and Chelsea say.
No worries, all. Just let me know what copy you decide on.
I'm fine with changing the text around. We'll wait until Lee has the new copy.

If anyone has feeback about the design of the promos, let us know otherwise we'll put the new text in this design.
Hey there -- I'd love to see us A/B with and without the price point.
Designs look great to me. My only nit was that I wished I saw the banner with the heart in it more... the rest of the scene with the hands/fists up in the air started to remind me of a protest or something. I admit my mind has been preoccupied with recent protests on the news... so, that's part of it. But otherwise I simply love the banner with the heart and wished I could see that more.

Just a nit. Otherwise, looks great.
I'll see if I can bump up the appearance of the heart banner for the next round, Tara
Friendly ping. where do we stand on this? If updating the design to address my nit is slowing things down... I'm happy to just nix that in the interest of moving things along :) Please let me know. Thanks.
Hi all,
Apologies if you're waiting for revisions to the mockups - I have been waiting on a final set of copy that we wanted to A/B test (one sans price point). Once I get the 2 versions of new copy, I can adjust the graphics per comment 10, and re-post.

If these need to be published right away, I can also provide the working file and copy can be adjusted by webdev. if system type will be used over a background graphic.
Hey Lee

here are the options for with and without price points

Thank you!

<3 the web? Help us make it better. Join Mozilla.

<3 the web? It takes $5 to help us make it better. Join Mozilla.
Thanks for test version copy, Chelsea. Here they are mocked up: with and without "$5" donation.
Hey Lee,

Thanks very much for this. I don't think the <3 is working now that I see it. Can you try one of the following options:

1) Make the <) and actual heart
2) Move and amplify the heart in the back ground to be the heart in the copy.

Holler if you have more questions about this.
Cheers,
C
It's probably the font that we're using that makes the <3 not look right. I vote for #1 of the options you proposed. Lee, what do you think?
Hey Chelsea. I chatted with Lee about this. Seems like it might be "heart" overkill a bit if we have the heart graphic and the heart graphic in the background. How about we just write it out? It might be stronger that way and a nice echo of the heart graphic in the background. So: "Love the web?" blah blah blah. Lee is working on a mockup to share. I think that might be the best solution.
Unfortunately, "<3" never looked too good in Georgia! I think spelling it out as "Love the web?" feels better, and still resonates w/ the heart-banner graphic.
Looks great to me. Thanks Lee.

Chelsea, David (and team) what do you think? ready to close?
They look great to me too.
I think they look great too. Let me run them past Jane and Ryan and I'll let you know if we're good to close (will let you know by tomorrow).
These look good. Would love to A/B test with a version that uses Firefox in the hook, like "Love Firefox? Support the community that builds it. Join Mozilla." Could we go ahead with these, and add this as a third?
Hi all,
Here are the final files (PSD and PNGs) for the 3 Join Mozilla promos:

Thanks Lee! You are awesome, as always.

Hey Tara, Lee,

We're getting some feedback that the promos are difficult to read, esp the 3rd one. Would making minor adjustment to the opacity of the background and beefing up the text weight help? Let me know what you think and thanks!
Hi Chelsea,
Let me know if these are more legible. I played w/ the background graphics, colors and type.
These are actually really great. Chelsea, thoughts? I'm eager to close this :)
Awesome Lee. Close away Tara. Thank you again!
Thanks! since it's already close, we'll do a virtual re-close: *FIXED*
Cool - Chelsea, give me few minutes. I need to save out the individual PNGs and repackage up for you.
Excellent.
OK - same location for assets and source file:

Got it. Thank you Lee!
These are great. Thanks for the quick revisions!
Hey Tara,

We to Firefoxify these promos. Would you prefer I reopen this bug or start a new one. Let me know.
hehe. Um. if you don't mind starting a new bug, that'd be great. It's just cleaner that way. I'll have Rhonda or Victoria Firefoxify 'em. Thanks
Hey Tara--
When you say "foxify" do you mean you want to make them match the current Join Mozilla landing page look and feel? Also--can you give me a preferred deadline for these?
Thanks!
:)
--rhonda
Good question, and.. yes. We'll be applying the same new join mozilla skin to these. Chelsea can follow up with deadline, but... how about by end of next week?
That deadline is great. Thank you.
The Join Mozilla Welcome promos are reskinned with the new Join Mozilla look here:

Let me know if we need to make any changes.
:)

Thanks Rhonda. Chelsea, any thoughts?

My nits:
* Prefer the heart in the original color vs. red. but this is fine :)
* Would like to make sure the text stands out more. It's hard to read the light blue against blue.

Looks great otherwise. Fixing the text contrast is key, and then we're good to go.
+1 to Tara's comments.

Thanks Rhonda.
OK--I changed the text to be the dark grey so it can be read better:

:)
--rhonda
Excellent. Looks great! Tara if you have no objections I'll get them updated on Mozilla.org
Tara requested to see them without the red heart as an option, which are here:

--rhonda
Thanks Rhonda. Lets go with the one that has the heart shaded in.
Hey guys, sorry for the change of "heart" ;) pun sort of intended...

I really prefer to keep the heart graphic true to its original design... I know having it shaded in helps give the graphic a bit more oomph... but I think it's best to keep it as it was and not make changes like that.

Appreciate you doing both versions Rhonda.
Chelsea, if you don't mind... please use the udpdated version in Comment #47. Thanks!
PS. Lee agrees that it's the better of the two.
All good by me :)
